My Journey to Pediatric Health Coaching
Welcome to Anchored Wellness! I wanted to share a little about myself, my “why,” and what led me on this journey to becoming a pediatric health coach.
I grew up in Suffolk, Virginia with my family and my twin sister (who doubles as my best friend!). During my most formative years, I was quiet and unsure of myself, often doubting my own talents. Yet, despite those insecurities, certain qualities always tried their best to shine through.
Even when I struggled with self-confidence, friends and family always came to me for a listening ear or advice. Looking back, helping others discover their own answers came naturally to me. I loved being someone people could trust to help work through whatever life threw their way. It took me a while to truly recognize what I excel at and to see myself the way others saw me. Reflecting on that process made me ask: What would have helped me discover these strengths sooner?
Why I Created Anchored Wellness
I’ve spent the last decade of my career in Public Relations, helping technology clients craft their stories—over the last year I realized, it’s time to start crafting my own.
Seeing how rapidly technology and AI have evolved got me thinking about this next generation and the uncharted digital world they're having to step into. If I struggled to recognize my own strengths growing up, what does that journey look like for children today who have smartphones, social media, and AI woven into nearly every aspect of their lives? How do kids discover who they are when they’re constantly surrounded by digital distractions, comparison, and the pressure to keep up?
Technology isn't going away, and it will continue to shape how children learn, communicate, and experience the world. The question becomes: How do we help kids build the confidence, self-awareness, and resilience they need to thrive alongside it?
The Power of Movement, Challenge, and Play
At the same time, my lifelong connection to the ocean has continued to shape how I view growth. Surfing is a deep passion of mine, and sharing that joy with others is something I’m equally passionate about.
There is something truly amazing about pure play—especially in nature. I’ve watched kids who are nervous and unsure of themselves, walk away standing a little taller after accomplishing something they once thought impossible. Whether it was swimming independently for the first time or catching their very first wave, those moments proved that confidence grows through challenge—and that play is one of the most powerful ways kids learn to reset, step away from screens, and reconnect with the world around them.
The ocean is a constant reminder that growth isn’t predictable or perfect. Being anchored doesn’t mean staying still—it gives you the ground to trust yourself, navigate the uncertainty, and keep moving forward.
Looking Ahead
Those lessons are at the heart of Anchored Wellness. My mission is to help children and teens build healthy habits, resilience, and inner strength so they can navigate an increasingly digital world while staying grounded in who they are off-screen.
Through pediatric health coaching, I hope to give young people the tools I wish I’d had growing up:
The confidence to trust themselves
The courage to try new things
The belief that their worth isn't measured by likes or achievements, but by the unique strengths they already hold within.
